Citizen journalism

When people ask what citizen journalism is, the initial point is that citizen journalism reverse the traditional relationship between sender and receiver. The people who originally regarded as audiences borrowing from new media to inform one another is called citizen journalism. The role of journalist in citizen journalism is a “shepherd” rather than a gatekeeper in the process of selecting and presenting news. This is to say the journalists could represent community voice and encourage submission. Citizen journalism also can be regarded as citizen media, if a citizen do any of collect, report, analyze or disseminate news, he is a journalist. People define citizen journalism as ordinary people who cannot help themselves to catch up in the controversial events as a reporter or journalist in all over the world. According to the investigation, the citizen journalism can contribute to crisis reporting no matter in western countries or the developing countries like Brazil, China, India, Iran, Iraq even Antarctica. Because citizen journalism has been becoming a global phenomenon, the idea of it should also be international. And the impact of citizen journalism has been becoming very powerful by people informing people.

Nowadays, citizen journalism is easy peasy. It boosts the development of online journalism. People can just gathering hot button from RSS, or go to the place where events happened, taking photos or making video about it. And then only if they report it on the website has been created or report on the blog and that’s that.
